Friday Frames // Deep Breath

It's no secret I have a lot on my plate, I always worked better under pressure for some reason, I used to work in an Operating Room at a hospital and I would hand over supplies "stat" and I thrived during those times, the downtime is where I struggled. So it's no surprise that I find a balance for work-life, home-life and photography-life.  I know I am a broken record when I say, you find time in your life for things you love, but it's true. If you love something you'll find time whether it's a person, a hobby, a sport, work, party, etc. We're all busy in life but we find time. This year has been probably my biggest year yet, but I never felt out of control (minus October, damn you)  I found a good balance but I had to subtract something I like to do to continue something I love to do. I cut out family & senior sessions to shoot weddings. You can imagine it's not an easy week to work all day and then rush to a family session, shoot it and get home by 6-7pm to spend very little time with your children before bed. It just didn't fit anymore. Traveling miles one way to a 30 min session just stopped making sense to me. (When available I do still travel for engagement sessions when you book a wedding with me) I have had a lot of interest in sessions and it really pains me to let past clients down or see them go elsewhere.  My response to them is "I do limited sessions, at my home and as available".  No more travel and no more scrambling my family around. Once a year I do hope to add mini-sessions to the schedule, like I did this weekend. I have a full schedule Saturday & Sunday!

Thank you all for your support, for following my work, for your "likes" and commenting and feedback (I can't express enough how much I love feedback) thanks for sharing my page with others and recommending me and most of all for understanding that I can't do it all , as much as I would love to be superwoman ;)

I took the day off the other day to take a deep breath,  do nothing and shoot my very favorite subject at the apple orchard, scored some yummy honey crisp and pumpkins. These two are the reason for the reduction in sessions. As you can see these two are my whole life, the cutest boys on earth and I love them more than my next breath.

Travis + Laura's Sweet Bike Trail Engagements

Ok, so I may have a small crush on Tina, and her owners. This session was perfect. Laura and Travis are so incredible, they are warm and fun and easy to talk to. They are so happy it radiates right off them.  When Travis originally emailed and said " we met at a triathlon and fell in love over butternut squash" I was sunk, bummed, sad that I was not available on their date/location. Then he emailed more and the date and location changed, never hearing from Laura (the bride) I thought "well, what a great groom to take the reigns on this"! But little did I know, they were not yet engaged. Travis set this up before proposing to Laura!  When Laura called she told me the whole sweet story and how she always wanted me to be their photographer so he did this behind her back in secret, I was so smitten. Then they tell me they have "Tina" their tandem bike and want to incorporate her into the photos, I was over the moon!  It was truly all meant to be. I'm ecstatic about this August 2015 wedding. This fun-loving, adorable couple really gets the big picture in life and I am happy to be a part of that.  Enjoy a preview of my time with Travis, Laura + Tina (lots and lots of Tina- sorry, not sorry)

Friday Frames // My kind of people

So I shot this (incredible) engagement session with these two sweethearts Laura and Travis, and while we were shooting we got on the subject of my blog, work, etc.. This couple said that when they inquired with me they realized I had a certain "type" of people as clients, a certain style of couple.  They said they only hoped that they would be this type of couple and fit my style too. (Seriously you guys, these two are like the poster couple of my type of clients, love them!)  Laura said "what you have, and these couples,  it's a brand" and I wanted to hug her right there. I was SO happy, this was an enormous compliment and exactly what I want for my business, a brand that attracts a certain "type" of couple.  If you follow my blog for me it's not about how fancy the wedding was or if it was at a barn or at a specific location, wearing specific type of dress, and had certain details, it can or can not be any of those things, it doesn't matter to me. For me, It's about the couple. The type of people they are, my kind of people.  People who love photos but know they are not the most important part of the day because getting married is most important and if everything else goes wrong then your still husband and wife and that's the best thing that could ever happen.  The type of people who wouldn't ask me to change their photos, the kind of of people who can laugh and be silly, who love the outdoors, who have hobbies and interests, people who love to travel and eat good food. People who love where they live and watch football on Sundays. People who bring me yummy cookies from the food coop ;)
(The fact that my couples are all insanely adorable is just a bonus.)

If your my kind of people and getting married in 2015 let's chat because I am about fully booked with amazing, fun-loving, easy-going, happy and madly in love couples!

Meet Laura + Travis, My kind of people, coming to the blog very soon.
