Burlap and Bells Wedding// Caitie and Ryan // Black River Falls, WI

I didn’t meet Caitie and Ryan until their wedding day, which isn’t unusual for me. But I usually start to understand them as people and them as a couple as the day progresses. The first look was that moment for me when I seen who this couple was. Ryan’s reaction to his bride was the sweetest and they took a quiet moment alone in the beautiful backdrop of the woods. Burlap and Bells is the most incredible venue! And it’s practically in my backyard. Can you believe this beauty exists?! I remember this day just glowing, the warm sun and soft light made the perfect day even more lovely!

Jamie and Jordan // Rosthchild Pavillion// Rosthchild, WI

Ahhh! This couple! Such a sweet duo. When we met they graciously traveled to me and I felt so connected with then pretty quickly, everything was going great and then Jordan was stung by a bee during our session! Such a champ, we continued on but this little happenstance carried over into the wedding day when Jamie pointed out a tick on Jordans shirt during the ceremony. Its these funny little things and their reactions to them that made these two so fun to be around and work with. Like the universe was goofing with them and they laughed about it. Jamie, the gorgeous and sweet bride and Jordan her go with the flow handsome groom make the perfect couple, together with their babies! HOW cool is it that they brought them for photos?!?

On my travels to this wedding down every single backroad I think Wisconsin has to offer, which I love, the clouds were dark and the rain loomed over me. Once I met with Jamie, suddenly everything was sunny and beautiful and they got their outdoor ceremony they had hoped for.

Some extra special takeaways for me, Jamies shoes! The florals were amazing, Jordan’s stealing glances at his wife, BIg laughs, happiness. Super low key and fun wedding party and families. The location the couple chose for photos, this can sometimes be hit or miss but these two nailed it! and the warm breeze over the water and bridge on the walk to their ceremony on a small island. SO SO perfect. Enjoy the preview and scroll down for vendor love!

Do you have any idea the power of inspiration? It can just take someone over in such an amazing way. Here’s a tip, go ahead and consider hiring a photographer who has never been to your venue before. Now, hire a professional, hire someone whose been in business for years and who is reputable. But if they have never worked at your venue before, that’s a GOOD thing. They have a fresh perspective and they will feel inspired. This was me at Susan and Joe’s wedding. I was so taken back by her dress that I left the room to compose myself and return to start shooting. The dress, and venue and veil and grooms attire and florals and weather and the smell in the air and the getting ready suite and the ivy, and the owners of this new venue and most of all the couple and their friends and families- it all really inspired me. I had so much fun with this wedding. I felt like the day was a mix between soft and romantic and urban and edgy. It all molded together like this movie. I love the owners of this new venue, The Ivy House expect big things here, they have been working and dreaming this up for seven years, taking something away from every wedding they DJ’d, putting it all together to create something really whole and beautiful and functional. I’m so glad I was able to be a part of this day with Susan and Joe. Editing these photos I still felt that jolt of inspiration and joy! I hope you feel it too. Excellent vendor list below.
